Frequently Asked Scholarship Questions:
1) How do I apply for an Eastview Community Foundation (EVCF) scholarship?
The 2011 application process will open on or about March 1, 2011. Refer to the scholarships tab on this website -- specifically "2010 Scholarship List and Instructions" for an example of what was available for the Class of 2010. This document explains in detail how to apply and which scholarships are available. This list is just an example and is not necessarily what will be offered for the Class of 2011.
2) Do I need to fill out an EVCF application for each EVCF scholarship I’m interested in?
No, you only need to complete one general EVCF/Lightning application. You will be considered for all EVCF scholarships for which you are eligible. You may need to write a separate essay for each scholarship that you are interested in.
3) Where can I find a list of EVCF scholarships?
CLICK HERE for an example of last year's listing. You can also look for a printed copy in the scholarship drawer in the EVHS Guidance Office in March of 2011. You can also find a link on Family Connections.
4) How many letters of recommendation will I need?
One letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or counselor. You may use the form at the end of the EVCF/Lightning scholarship application to give to a teacher of your choice and they will return it to the school guidance office for you. OR you can use a letter of recommendation that you’ve submitted for your college applications.
5) When are the EVCF applications, letters of reference & essays due?
The deadlines for the Class of 2011 have not yet been set. However, traditionally students have the month of March to complete their applications and submit them online on or near the first of April.
You may turn in FSAFA/Student Aid reports for financial need scholarships by April 12th, 2011.
6) Who do I contact if I don’t understand any part of the process or have questions?

7) If I don’t have access to a computer, what do I do?
You may use the computers in the EVHS guidance office area.
8) When will the scholarship selections be announced?
EVCF Scholarship Recipients will receive a letter by mid-May, 2011.
9) When will the scholarship recipients be recognized?
Recipients will be recognized during an evening ceremony the early part of June.
10) When will I receive my scholarship check?
Your check will be mailed to the address that you provide on the scholarship acknowledgement form. This form will be included in your packet at the scholarship award ceremony. You will receive your check mid by August 2011.
11) Is my scholarship eligible for matching funds through Dollars for Scholars?

12) What if I decide to enroll at a different school after graduation?
Please contact EVCF as soon as possible if you change your enrollment.

13) What happens to my scholarship if I am not attending a post- secondary school in the fall semester?
You have one year from date of scholarship check to use your scholarship award. If you do not use your award with in one year, it will be returned to the Eastview Community Foundation scholarship fund.
